Minco Silver Corporation was formed to acquire and develop silver dominant projects. The Company has focused on China and its flagship project is the Fuwan Silver property located in Guangdong Province, China. Until its spin-off into a separately traded company on the TSX in December 2005, Minco Silver was a subsidiary of Minco Gold Corporation (TSX:MMM /AMEX:MGH). Minco Gold Corporation holds a 32.5% stake in Minco silver as at November 2009.

In addition to its Fuwan Silver property, Minco Silver, through Minco (China) Corporation (a wholly owned subsidiary of Minco Gold Corporation), has been granted three exploration licences, located in the Sanzhou Basin, by the Ministry of Land and Resources of China for a total land package in excess of 200 square kilometres. Two exploration licences, the Luoke-Jilingang and the Sanyatang, cover the major part of the northeast-trending Fuwan Silver Belt which hosts the known gold and silver occurrences in the Sanzhou Basin, including the Company's Fuwan Silver and Minco Gold's Changkeng Gold properties.
